Designed to transport humanity to a new home, the U.S.S. Plymouth rests in high orbit above a familiar world.

This environment gave me a chance to explore the Unreal material editor in new ways. The planet behind the ship uses two shaders to display moving clouds, shadows, varying land, and moving oceans.

While designing the ship itself, my goal was to build something futuristic yet believable. The ship has rotating capsules to provide artificial gravity, and these segments can be independently detatched for emergency jettison. The main 'mast' of the ship is visible with its three oxygen gardens, and massive solar sails propel the ship over vast distances given time.

At this stage, all modeling is complete, and shader updates are forthcoming. Eventually, this environment will see nearby nebula, clouds of moving gas, and occasional space debris shooting in and out of view.
